As a Production Manager often required to find the best actor for the job it has often been my pleasure to come into contact with high-caliber actors such as Dean Mitchell. Upon reviewing his work I found it to be extensive and varied showing great range as an actor. The humour he brings to roles is refreshing and his devotion to his craft is evident. He would be an asset to the United States entertainment industry.

In the course of my work I have come to know Dean Mitchell as an upstanding person, reliable and of immense integrity. He is a fine, intelligent actor giving 100% to any role or challenge set to him. I have been fortunate over the last 40 years as Actor, Stuntman, Stunt Director and 2nd Unit Director on Raiders of the lost Ark, Superman I/II/II. James Bond Movies, Star Wars and Aliens. Having worked with Steven Spielberg, John Landis, Kevin Costner, Robert Redford, Sean Connery, Pierce Brosnan and Sir Michael Caine.

Dean portrayed me in a BBC documentary ‘friendly fire.’ I was involved in a situation during Operation Desert Storm when my unit was mistakenly attacked by another US unit thinking we were an Iraqi fighting force. I was the one able to stop the attack before we were killed, and was considered a ‘hero.’ It’s difficult to feel worthy of an honour with one soldier wounded and another killed by the time the guns stopped firing. I also testified in front of a senate committee. Our story was also presented on ABC’s 20/20, The Learning Channel and Deans BBC documentary which was the most personalized by far. As I discussed actions to the interviewer, the BBC re-enacted them with Dean playing my part perfectly. He captured not only the fear I felt as our vehicles were shredded by deadly firepower but also my sense of calm to figure out a way to save us all. As Dean re-enacted my final heroic act I must say he captured everything I was thinking and feeling at the time.

I was asked to cast for a part in a new feature film. It wasn’t the kind of brief that most people could fit and there are few artists I could rely on to fulfil this requirement. The first person to spring to mind was Dean Mitchell. Having witnessed his work first hand I knew I could rely on him to be able to do justice to the part. He’s a performer that just seems to come alive when necessary with the versatility in not only vocal but also a physical sense. This is indeed a rare quality that can’t be matched by most actors.
